After the cliffhanger from “After Truth”: This is how it could go on in “After Passion 3”

With “After Passion 2” there is an open ending, which, like in the original book, forms the basis for the sequel “After Passion 3” aka “After Love” and should have an impact on Hardin and Tessa’s relationship.

Warning, spoilers will follow at the end of “After Truth”!

Warning, spoilers will follow at the end of “After Truth”!

In “After Truth” the complicated relationship between Tessa (Josephine Langford) and Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) goes into the next round. Tessa’s trust in the bad boy is shaken after the revelation about his bet at the end of “After Passion”, but the two just can’t get away from each other.

After some back and forth, at the end of “After Truth” it looks like their love could actually have a future. But of course it won’t be that easy, after all, Anna Todd’s main series of novels has two more volumes, “After Love” * (original title: “After We Fell”) and “After Forever” * (“After Ever Happy”).

And even if the makers of the films do not always stick slavishly to the books (for example regarding the role of Tessa’s fellow student Zed, who plays a much smaller role in the adaptations and has at least not yet had an eye on Tessa), they offer already some clues for the continuation of the plot – especially with regard to the dramatic final scene of “After Truth” itself …

This is how “After Truth” ends

Despite all arguments and misunderstandings, Hardin and Tessa find each other (again) in “After Truth”. But after leaving Hardin’s regular tattoo shop in love, a shocking surprise awaits them when they are suddenly approached by a homeless person (the same, by the way, who tried to talk to Hardin at the very beginning of the film).

As it turns out, the neglected man is Tessa’s father, who left her and her mother around ten years ago. The “After Truth” film adaptation ends with the same large cliffhanger as the book.

Tessa’s father is back

“After Love” will now be about how Tessa will deal with the return of her father, whose disappearance completely wrecked Tessa’s mother (Selma Blair) at the time and turned Tessa’s life upside down. but after all these years she might want to give him a second chance anyway. In view of the problems that Tessa’s father brings with it, new drama is of course inevitable – especially when her mother gets wind of the matter. The main reason the mother has a problem with Hardin is that he reminds her of her ex.

“After Love” will now be about how Tessa will deal with the return of her father

In the book, Tessa’s father is called Richard Young. Tessa’s mother, Carol, got pregnant early in the relationship and the wedding wasn’t long in coming, although Carol’s parents didn’t approve of it at all.

Richard used drugs and just couldn’t get rid of them. Carol always stood up for him anyway, at least until she couldn’t take it anymore. Richard moved out, became homeless, and continued to use drugs.

The return of the father will not leave Tessa’s and Hardin’s already difficult relationship without a trace. Tessa could see her father as a warning example of what can become of Hardin, who keeps drugging himself with alcohol. But Tessa and Hardin’s relationship faces a completely different challenge …

Moved to Seattle

At the end of “After Truth” it remains to be seen whether Tessa will accept the tempting job offer from Vance Publishing. If you follow the same path as the “After Love” novel, she doesn’t miss this opportunity and moves to Seattle for it. Hardin, who is not very enthusiastic about this, initially refuses to come with her, but then pays her a visit.

Tensions between the two continue to be the order of the day. In the adaptation, these could also be fueled by Tessa’s colleague Trevor (Dylan Sprouse), who will also be on site in Seattle. Maybe he tries again what to do with Tessa (and should thus take on the role Zed takes on in the book a little more).

The review for “After Truth”

Although Hardin and Tessa have both developed further, occasional relapses into old patterns mean that jealousy and relationship stress are also inevitable in “After Love”. Will the love of the two outlast this again or is it finally about to end?

Although Hardin and Tessa have both developed further, occasional relapses into old patterns mean that jealousy and relationship stress are also inevitable in “After Love”.

The answer to that will hopefully soon be found in the “After Love” film adaptation, provided that “After Truth” attracts enough viewers to the cinemas. If you want to know exactly how things will continue, you can of course also read about it in Anna Todd’s books.
