After “Wonder Woman”: So it goes on in “Wonder Woman 1984”

ProSieben shows “Wonder Woman” on September 7, 2020 at 8.15 p.m. Those looking forward to the sequel (hopefully) don’t have to wait long: “Wonder Woman 2” aka “Wonder Woman 1984” is due to hit the cinemas on October 1st, 2020.

“Wonder Woman” ends with a happy ending with a tragic note: Diana (Gal Gadot) has succeeded in stopping the war god Ares (David Thewlis) and his human puppets and ending the First World War, but her great love Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) lost her life.

Given the huge success of “Wonder Woman” ($ 821 million worldwide grossing, mostly enthusiastic fans and critics), a sequel was of course inevitable, but whether it would be just as good without the great chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine was doubtful.

Fortunately, with the first pictures of the filming of Wonder Woman 2, director Patty Jenkins revealed that Pine would actually return as Steve Trevor – although of course not how and why. We don’t want to reveal too much at this point, but if you want to know more, you will find the alleged details here:

“Wonder Woman 2”: This is how Steve Trevor returns

“Wonder Woman 1984” (the official title of the sequel) is set – unsurprisingly – in 1984 and shows Diana 70 years after her first big appearance and the loss of Steve.

She is still active as a superhero now and then, but otherwise leads a rather withdrawn life. Only when Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) of the rather dubious company Black Gold Cooperative succeeds in making people’s dreams come true does Diana have to act again as Wonder Woman 9MOVIES.

Because one of the people whose wishes Maxwell Lord fulfills also includes Diana’s introverted friend and colleague Barbara Minerva (Kristen Wiig), who is initially happy about her new self-confidence, but soon mutates into the cheetah woman Cheetah and becomes a danger to herself and others:

According to the current status, “Wonder Woman 1984” will start in German cinemas on October 1, 2020. Due to the corona pandemic, this date (unlike usual) is not set in stone, but can still change.

And even after “Wonder Woman 2” it is not over yet. In addition to a spin-off about the Amazons from the island of Themyscira, director Patty Jenkins is also working on “Wonder Woman 3” – in which Corona will then play a role.
