Sometimes the job of casting people on shows and films seems really very simple. So not when it comes to coordinating schedules, that’s pure hell – but for some roles certain actors are just so created that you don’t need three seconds to look at them as ideal candidates.
Jason Momoa, one of Hollywood’s most charismatic muscle men, is now supposed to play the witcher in the six-episode prequel series “The Witcher: Blood Origin”. He would follow in the footsteps of the charismatic-edged Henry Cavill, although this formulation is not entirely correct because “Blood Origin” takes place 1,200 years before the main series and Momoa would play the very first Witcher.
The subjunctive at the end of the previous sentence was chosen very deliberately, because apparently nothing has been signed yet. However, the very reliable “Witcher” fans of Redanian Intelligence can confirm with two sources that Netflix actually wants Jason Momoa for the lead role in “The Witcher: Blood Origin”. Now it should depend on the schedule and money.
The rumor had been reported two weeks earlier by We Got This Covered, a site that is suspected of making up some of their cast and project rumors simply because of the clicks.

“The Witcher: Blood Origin” is to be shot in the UK after work on the second season “The Witcher” is completed. A release on Netflix is expected in early 2022. It’s about the events that ultimately led to the worlds of humans, monsters and fmovies becoming one.
